I would like to call the attention of people interested in this article. This problem that occured in the Caribean happens in the contray in the Canary Islands, south of Spain- I am searching for information on the sexual behaviour of Diadema antillarum and its biology as well.
My intentions are to clean this sea urchin from the ecosystem and give entry to other organisms that used to inhabit those areas. The finality of this project is to collect this invertebrates a their sexual maturity in order to reduce settlement and use their gonads as addittional feed for hatchery larvae.
It«s a very complex project but it would be supported by the Canarian government without any doubt.
I hope to hear advice and help.
