Estrogen and testosterone

This research topic submitted by Rory on 10/19/02.

As eveyone knows people with higher levels of estrogen or testosterone tend to be more aggressive. Many have argued these are automatic psychological affects of the chemicals. My theory is that they are not and that they are simply the results of being stronger. In nature the strong are likely to abuse the weak. Many studies have found increasing people's testosterone or estrogen have no direct psycholigical affect on people. But that strogner peopel abuse weaker people. Is it likely that all these studies that have found for instance that women with higher estrogen leves are more violent are just finding the results of people being stronger abusing weaker people and not a direct affect of these chemicals on the brain. In nature the strogner primates would be likely to abuse the weaker primates.
