queer by choice

This research topic submitted by Gayle Madwin on 1/19/00.

It is very silly of all you scholarly people to be conducting studies to find out why I'm queer. All you have to do is ask me. I have a hell of a lot more firsthand insight into the matter than you have. And I will tell you plainly: I am queer by choice. I used to be hetero so let me tell you, you het people have no clue what you're missing out on. I am certainly not the only one who feels this way.

There is also a very nice book by Vera Whisman titled /Queer by Choice: Lesbians, Gay Men, and the Politics of Identity/, published by Routledge in 1996.
