Kim and I just discussed the ideas for our research proposal and have decided to modify the focus of our paper and our poster. WE are not going to tie in media representation of violent and aggressive acts due to the vastness of media representation. Instead, we are going to compare the aggressive behavior of humans with that of the chimpanzees in Jane Goodall's studies. For example, htese chimpanzees attack mainly on women and minorities. The male chimpanzees may inflict damage upon females in order to coerce them into procreation. Also, the stronger male chimpanzees sometimes attack the weaker males within the society.
We have also decided to take Ann's suggestions and use them in our research. We will use the women's center and also call public safety to further research our topic. Also, we have preliminary ideas for a study which will be conducted over a random sampling of individuals on Miami's campus regarding peolple's involvement in criminal behavior, whether thy were victims or participants. We will focus also on the gender and race of the victims and participants to help support our hypothesis that most violent crimes are committed against minority groups.
