Keel-Billed Toucan
Ramphastos sulfuratus

Size: Male: 18 1/2" (47 cm); 500 g. Female: 17" (44 cm); 380 g.

Diet: Eats fruits of many types, insects, and occasionally small lizards or snakes. Tosses food up from bill tip before catching and swallowing.

Voice: Harsh wooden croaking: crrrrik crrrrik crrrrik.

Status: Common throughout wooded Caribbean lowlands. Present but less common in other portions of the country.

Cool Fact: Juvenile's colors are much duller and less distinct, especially the red border of the bib and the pattern on the bill. Also, the bill is noticeably short for a while after fledging.
