Size: 15" (38 cm); 325 g.

Diet: Hunts reptiles, small mammals, and smaller birds.

Voice: High whistle, one pitch or slurring upwards.

Status: Found in humid-forested lowlands and foothills, along the entire length of the Caribbean slope.

Cool Fact: Only hunts in lower canopy and understory of forest. Does not soar to search for prey; rather, watches from a low perch, then swoops down to catch prey.

Often allows people to get close.
