Fork-Tailed Emerald Hummingbird
Chlorostilbon canivetii

Size: 3 1/4" (8 cm); 2.6 g.

Diet: Nectar or many flowers, mostly small, insect-pollinated flowers of shrubs and herbs, which are ignored by other hummingbirds.

Voice: Male's song is high, thin, monotonous phrases: tsippy tsee tsee. Otherwise a quiet staccato chatter.

Status: Widespread but generally uncommon. Most abundant in Valle Central region and surrounding slopes, up to about 5,000 ft (1,500 m).

Cool Fact: Bullied and chased by most other hummingbirds. Flits about very nervously when foraging.
