Eocene Bony Fish Teeth

This topic submitted by Jenny Germano ( germanjm@muohio.edu ) on 9/10/00 .

For my project, I would like to continue the research I was doing this summer in Georgia. I was working at an Eocene site in Sandersville, GA which is Middle Jacksonian in age and for the two months that I was there, I focused mainly on invertebrate microfossils. This semester I am continueing that study and focusing in on the bony fish teeth that I collected from the strata 2 ft., 3 ft., 5 ft., and 8 ft. beneath the top of the limestone. These are all microsfossils ranging from a couple mm in length to a couple hundred micrometers. Some of the samples are more complete than others and I have some scanning electron microscope pictures that I have already taken. I need to do some more research, work on identification, and maybe put together some rank order or other stat. stuff.
