"Geology. however, furnishes us with positive proof of the extinction and production of species, though it does not inform us how either has taken place. The extinction of species, however, offers but little difficulty, ... Geological changes, however gradual, must occationally have modified external conditions to such an extent as to have rendered the existence of certain species impossible." We seek to prove the aforementioned statement by Alfred Russel Wallace through observation and interpretation of fossils found in outcrop formations in the SW Ohio area.

out sources thus far:
Fossils of Ohio. Feldman, Rodney M., et. al.. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Geological Survey 1996.
Sedinentology and Stratography. Boggs.
Devonian-Mississippian Shale Sequence in Ohio . Hoover, Karl V.. Department of Natural Resources. 1960.
Oil Recovery for the Kurieska Basin. Kuss, Andy, et. al. 2002.

other plans include:
collecting specimens of the 20-30 species of fossils most common in the ohio area
walking creek beds and making observations
visiting outcrops in nearby ohio and indiana area
provide map to class of outcrops and creek beds for their own independent field trips
