My name is Joe Woycke and I will be TA on the course. Since you are teaching a social studies course, it may be useful to try to mention something about coral reefs commercial value (ecotoursim and as a fisheries hatchery). Protection of nature has its own benefits (biodiversity etc.) but, some people are more concerned with economic concerns and place development over conservation. Demonstrating the commercial value of protecting habitat is often the best way to swing them to your point of view. please understand that I am not suggesting a major change to your paper but possibly adding only a sentance or two in the introduction showing how reef ecosystems are important to everyone.
