Currently there is an Everglades Restoration Project being conducted. One of the key components of this project is the Florida Keys Carrying Capacity Study. This study is being conducted to address the issue of increased development in the Keys and how this development is affecting the environment and its resources. Some of the issues listed were: decreased water quality surrounding the florida Keys, a reduction and fragmentation of the native marine and terrestrial habitat, a general decline in habitat quality and biodiversity, and an increased pressure of the infrastructure and the community's quality of life. This study is going to address these problems by identifying thresholds of sustainability for all these resources. My intentions are to show the class how the project is working and what results they have come up with thus far.
