Tropical Field Courses -Western Program-Miami University

Hi Nikki,

I'm going to be one of Hays' teaching assistants on the TME course, and he asked me to respond to the topic postings.

This is a great topic, and we actually got to see a manatee last year right off the dock of our hotel last year. It was really neat.

You will find tons of information on this topic. While you may want to make it presentable to the students in your classroom, make sure you rememer that you first have to present it to people 18 and up. Your first obligation is to fulfill the requirements of this class, but Hays definitely wants you to be able to use this in your classroom. It may find you in a catch 22, but remember that you can modify it for future use.

Your paper will need to be 5 pages long, but your presentation to the class should only be about 10 minutes. That means you'll have to be sure to give the most important and most interesting info during that time. I'm sure you're no stranger to that!

If you have any questions, please feel free to write me!

Becky
