GLOBAL WARMING AND THE MELTING ARCTIC POLAR ICE CAPS: The Endangered Lives of Polar Bears

Intro: I aim to research global warming and the affects it has on our polar regions. More specifically I would like to focus on how increased water temperatures and decreasing ice mass in the poles has on our world and environment. Also, i would further my research by developing a case study on the lives of polar bears in the arctic and how global warming and the melting ice is endangering their populations.

I. Global Warming Overview
A. Greenhouse Gases
B. Heat Transfer and Heat Budget
C. Polar Ice as the "giant mirror"

II. Effects of Global Warming
A. Reduced polar ice
B. Snowball effect, exponential decrease in ice
C. Rising Sea Level and warmer fresh water entering polar regions

III. Polar Bear Environments and Endangerment
A. Loss of ice equals loss of life for bears
B. Inability to hunt on the ice; give birth
C. More time on land, skinnier unhealthier bears
D. glamorized creature may soon disappear

Conclusion and Hopes of Change

I would like to add to my paper ways in which we today can combat global warming, and more importantly what can be done to aid polar bears by becoming aware of the melting ice caps, and how this may even effect us in the not so distant future.
