You found a good area to explore, and start to narrow the question around Christianity and it's influence on monogamy. There is plenty of interesting material to explore here. Christianity has many codes relating to moral and immoral reproductive behavior:
chaste priests
adultery
monogamy
be fruitful and multiply
positions against birth control

How successful are religious restrictions?
Who do they benefit?

Some thesis in this area (meaning testing a point rather than exploring a theme) should lead to a good investigation.
