Something you might want to consider is the idea that guilt may be expressed in different ways, and as such, it may be difficult to measure or compare "degrees of guilt" if you aren't able to isolate its mode of expression in a particular individul or culture. Also, after differentiating between morals of different cultures, you might actually be able to examine them further and find common links between them, despite an initial impression that they vary greatly.
