Our group is still in an early stage as far as our project goes. By this we mean that while we have done a lot of initial research and thinking, we are busily revamping our hypothesis. We started off with a very broad topic with multiple aspects and are busy narrowing that down to find a specific point to argue. Currently: Because biologically we are so malleable and because of the powerful control that society has over people (ie. advancements in technology) this has increased the magnitude of acts of domination. This has given us the ability to dominate over massive amounts of people, and has made domination more widespread in humans than it ever could in the animal kingdom. We are planning at looking at cases where people go from the role of domination into a role of submission and how this happens. We plan to show that submission and dominance is largely determined by the social hierarchy that the system has construed. This means that dominance is less likely to do with the individual and more with their social status. To do this we are going to study the way that society shapes dominate and submissive people by looking at moral, and government (etc.).
In terms of our survey, we are also in the process of reconstructing that, using the input from our peers during class time. We hope to complete the survey and have passed them out to people on Western's campus, by the end of this week.
