Important Introductory Information for the 2006 Human Nature Projects:

Peer Review is a fundamental component of doing research. To help make your river projects more interdisciplinary and scientifically sound, you are being called upon to put forward ideas, proposals, and final report as well as provide feedback to your peers.

These are Research Ideas for "What is Human Nature?" Spring 2006. Each research team is to submit their own interdisciplinary research idea.

You can Input Your Research Ideas/Questions , and then review feedback on this page. Or, just look at what other students plan to do.

Some Hints on Designing a Project

Some things to keep in mind

-Love the Research Question and what it represents. Otherwise, it will be a real drag!
-Explore context (historical, social, personal, and scientific)
-List alternative explanations and test competing theories
-Use different methodologies
-Become a critic of your work and encourage the critiques of others
-Understand what your research results really say....don't overextend!

Each Project Idea should include

(1) A clear statement of how your proposed project addresses the broader issue 'What is Human Nature?' ; (2) one or more Research Question(s); (3) A clear indication of an Interdisciplinary Approach (including cultural, social and scientific perspectives) and (4) Some tentative notions about specific methods for addressing the scientific, humanistic, and social science dimensions of your project. Explain how your project incorporates both empirical and interpretative approaches to inquiry.

Some Important Considerations: (1) Be practical! Not all questions are "good" questions! (2) Discuss your research ideas with one another; and (3) It's your idea. Make it work!
