As a main-campuser, I agree with your hypothesis. Good idea. I think that you could look at the reasons that Western is more liberal, does it have to do with major? I love the western environment, and wish I could be a western student....but it just can't happen. Anyway, majors could have something to do with it, because maybe students in int. disc. studies are happier with their major, or feel they can express themselves. I don't know if this is true, but it could be tested. As far as eating disorders, I live off of Cook field, and the number of girls running amazes me. Why torture yourself to please others?? The girl/guy ratio is not very even. So maybe the competition among the girls, for the guys, is stiffer, so they feel that they need to look all the better. You could address the ways the university has reconized the problem, i.e. making freshman buy passport meal plans so they don't skip meals, no scales allowed in dorms. Compared to other universities, it seems like Miami's problem is on a much larger scale. It seems like the western and main campuses can't even be fairly compared in the aspect of self-image because the environments are so different. "JCrewU" doesn't really apply at western. The environment is much more laid mack, and emphasis is placed on non-conformism. So is there an opposite effect at western: a pressure not to conform? Just some ideas. Good luck!!
