In our studym we will be testing whether the boys' or the girls' bathroom harbors more bacteria. We will test this by swabbing places, such as the toilet seats, the sink handles, the inside door handles, the locks on the stalls, and the shower floors. These tests will be performed in the boys' and girls' residential bathrooms in Peabody Hall on the second and third floors of the south corridor. Once a week (most likely on Mondays), we will swab and test these areas by placing them in a petry dish with agar and then we will identify the type of bacteria found in the area.

Our prediction will be that the women's bathrooms will contain more bacteria than the men's bathroom. We are basing this prediction on the articles that we read by Amanda Riddle, Adrain Monk, and Andrew Lindemann Malone, who give evidence that these is more bacteria in womens' bathrooms as opposed to mens' bathrooms.

Malone, Andrew Lindemann. Bathroom Reviews. Sept. 9, 2002.
