We measured and treated today!
After all the problems we ran into, we finally began treating the bean plants today. They were already quite large and too rooted to pick out the weakest plant. However, we devised a system of measuring all of the plants without getting them confused. We figure that this will at least give us greater statistical accuracy (larger sample size).
Tya's camera wasn't working so we aren't able to post pictures today, but they will be up soon. The plants look healthy right now, but we'll see how long that lasts!
We treated each tray with it's designate acid with a spray bottle. This simulates the way that acid rain affects plants in the natural environment. It doesn't just go into the soil - it covers the plant and its leaves as well.
Jessica also posted all of the responses today... which is why they all have the same post date, even though they were sent to her on the day they were written...
Anyway, that's where we are on our experiment as of today. Take a look at the plants while they're healthy. Hopefully that won't last for very long!
