Natural Systems 1 Syllabus---Miami University

Hello,

I'm glad to see that you're off to a running start! My comments below are meant to provide suggestions that will improve your project.

  • I can tell that you put much thought into this research project and I appreciate your efforts
  • Include pictures in the Lab Packet Posting!
  • I'd like to see your data sheet
  • One concern I have: With only two trees of each of the five species (2 individuals/species in the forest, 2 individuals/species in the open), how will we do statistical analyses?
  • The Relevance section is very rough. What you have here is more an Annotated Bibliography (which is fine, for an Annotated Bibliography). The Relevance Section needs to put/place your specific study into some broader context. The context you place your study in can be tangental to color change, such as the evolution of a "deciduous lifestyle" in plants, the importance of leaf fall to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, the portrayal of the beauty of fall in art and photography, etc.
  • Did you reference and research other Western student projects that dealt with leaf clolor change?

So, you're off to a great start!

    Best,
    Hays
