1. Introduction
a. Purpose/Problem. What is your hypothesis?

Purpose: To determine if or how the full moon affects the desire for chocolate in comparison to the other phases of the moon.
Hypothesis: We believe that the full moon will drastically affect desire for chocolate.

b. What do you plan to accomplish?

We plan to survey Western students to see if their cravings for chocolate are affected by the full moon cycle. We hope that our sample will be an accurate representation of the Western College program.

c. Relevance, if any. Why is this research interesting?

We are interested in the affects of the moon on human behavior. We have chosen to concentrate on food cravings, and are interested in seeing how two are connected.

2. Relevance of your research question
a. Literature Review--What have others done?

Since we are combining many different topics, our research includes studies on: the moon cycles, how the moon affects human behavior, what chemical affects chocolate has on the brain and the rest of the body, food cravings, ect.

b. How does your research relate to a larger question (like the real World)?

Our research relates to the health and marketing worlds. This includes bodily reactions to chocolate, and sales of chocolate products based on the lunar calendar.

3. Materials and Methods
a. What is your experimental design? Is it statistically sound?

We plan to distribute a survey during each lunar cycle and pass out our variable, the chocolate candy, to determine if our hypothesis is accurate.

b. Describe important materials and how they will be used.

We will be using chocolate candy as our experimental variable to determine if cravings are present. Along with the candy we will use a survey to collect substantial data.

c. Describe other methods. How will you involve the class in your study? Be specific!

We will be conducting our experiment once every cycle, where we take a group of selected people, picked initially by random, and give these people the survey and experimental variable.

d. Have you included a Data Sheet?

The data sheet will include the results from our survey.

e. Include a specific time-line of research execution

We will begin our experiment when the new moon phase begins on October 9 and we will continue through around the time of November 23 when the full moon phase occurs a second time during our experimental time period.
