Western Pond (B): Hays' Response

This topic submitted by Hays Cummins (haysc@muohio.edu) on 1/24/02.

Hello,

I thought you did a fine job in your initial attempts to synthesize the interdisciplinary nature of this study! I can tell that you gave the process the necessary contemplation.

Some comments and suggestions:

  • I've said this to all of the research teams, but, it bears repeating. Making Predictions in a study is very important (and fun). I suggest that, as a predictive "push point," that you make predictions (using your chosen study parameters) as to how Harkers Run will compare with Western Pond and Collins Run. Do you think the results of your comparisons will be similar? Different? And, why?
  • Why did you choose the articles in your literature cited? Of what use are they to you? I don't see many citations from an ecological perspective. How come?
  • Your research postings are HTML aware. This means that you will be posting a web page each time you submit to the website. So, you can control many aspects of the formatting using simple html.

So,....When posting web links, be sure to make them HOT. A web link that is not HOT is ........well, you know.

Look at the Web Posting Help Sheet for directions as to how to do this! (hey, I just made a hot link!) Any pdfs you have should be downloaded to your specific folder in the rivers folder (again see directions). Then, your pdfs can be hot linked too for all to see.

So, in closing, I was intrigued by your idea submission. While you need more beef, it is a good beginning. Let me know how I can help cause I'll be happy to do so.

    Regards,
    Hays
