Don't Drink and Drive

There are a lot of potentially interesting questions here. One thing that strikes me is the reason why we don't drink the water. I bet that most students wouldn't drink the water because of fear of chemical pollution. I, on the other hand am not particularly worried about that, but I wouldn't drink it becayse of fear of parasites, Giardia (sp!) and bacteria such as E-coli. Indeed it might be interesting to survey people as to why they wouldn't drink it. A related cultural issue is what did Native Americans in, say, 1790 do with Four Mile Creek water. Did they just dip in their hands and take a drink? Or did they treat it in some way (and if so, how)? Speaking of drinking, is the water cleaner upstream or downstream of the water treatment plant? What would you measure top address that question? A nice start. -Chris
