Here is a second response so that I can add the scientific perspective and include the readings for the week. Instead of talking about education in general, since it is a very broad topic, maybe you can focus more on the knowledge surrounding one aspect of the creek. For instance, what if you asked a question about how "natural" the creek is. Graf asks the very question "what is natural?" Human influence on Four Mile creek might vary depending upon where along its course you look. When talking to residents of the area you could ask them how much human impact is too much and how they personally make sure their affects on the creek are minimized so as to continue to benefit from its services. You could look at school natural science curriculum to see if it even addresses the question about how humans contain the natural flow of the creek and whether or not people know the implications, consequences, or perks to doing so. All of this can relate back to my first response and PWEEP because natural vs. artificial could be the theme of any activity you might create for the purpose of environmental education.
