Sock Opera

The idea of a rock opera could be an interesting piece of a larger project. Obviously you would have to learn and write a lot about the history, social use, and scientific study of the body of water first. It is easier for me to imagine a spoof of the Hudson River video than something that is actually emotionally moving like a rock opera, but I am prepared to be persuaded. The fish of Four Mile Creek -- including the colorful Rainbow Darter -- might be worthy of the scientific dimension of the project. Which could also be the subject of song.

Although I think that the medium of "an artistic expression such as the rock opera, which incorporates aspects of theatre, history, music, social sciences and, if necessary, science within the lyrics" is a good idea, getting from here to there with some degree of intellectual rigor will actually take quite a bit of work. I wish you had said more here to help you get started. I also note that each student should post his or her idea separately, and it would be a mistake to assume that Dustin, John, and Zoe are aautomatically a team. -Chris
