The Source of Life: the Biodiversity of Four Mile Creek Draft 1

This topic submitted by Abby Workman ( workmaae@muohio.edu ) on 1/23/03. [ Rivers Team: Abby Workman-Section: Garrison/Green]

For my research project I would like to investigate the forms of life in and around Four Mile Creek and to study the way in which they are affected by and affect the waterway. This research would cover, but not necissarily be limited too deer, foxes, and other land animals, fish, shellfish, insects, and, of course, human beings. I would like to study the various forms of life which depend upon the creek for daily sustenance and to look at the way the creek influences them and they the creek. This would include such issues as the drinkability of the water, its cleanliness, and its use as a mating ground and hatchery. As part of the research for this project I anticipate studying the various wildlife in the area and their habits regarding the creek, as well as looking at the human population in the area, especially concerning on their uses of the creek. Based on this information I hope to draw conclusions regarding the role the creek plays in local life, as well as informing on its cleanliness and perhaps projecting its future as a component of the local biosphere.
