Abby, first off, sorry for the random blank submission; I goofed. Anyway, here's what I think.
1. You're idea of compiling images of four mile creek connects well with the scientific readings in the sense that one reason we want to study nature scientifically is to conserve it for its own value as well as for our own enjoyment. Wiley writes on page 136 of the reader that we "preserve items of archaeological value"--like the sites of the Miami tribes and the history which you alluded to. We preserve"recreational value of waterways" which would surely be highlighted in your presentation. We "conserve natural beauty of the landscape" which was the major point of the piece and we "support traditional crafts such as thatching or basket-weaving which may be important...to the local economy" which you would certainly include in your work.
2. In terms of including some basic scientific testing, I suggest broadening your focus to include influences of the animals around the creek which would be affected by the biodiversity of the creek among other things which you could scientifically explore and express artistically.
Good luck!
