We desire to express the social, cultural, and scientific history of four-mile creek using the medium of song. The rock ballad is a potent channel for complex phenomena that illustrates the dynamic and emperical entity that is a river. We feel that an artistic expression such as the rock opera, which incorporates aspects of theatre, history, music, social sciences and, if necessary, science within the lyrics and feel of the project is an inheirantly interdisciplinary concept when utilized successfully. To accompany the rock opera, a slide show or film of four-mile will become the visual aspect of the project, putting a sense of artistic closure to the multimedia experience.
