some thoughts

Hi Sarah: It might be interesting to compare present-day water quality in 4-Mile Creek with water quality prior to European settlement. How were the sediment load, nutrient content, etc. changed by agriculture and by the clearing of forests?

Possible sources of information could include former Miami president Philip R. Shriver, who is an expert on early Ohio history.

For methods, check Standard Methods For Water And Wastewater Analysis.

By the way, what question will you be addressing in this project? Possibilities: What was the role of the creek in native American life and culture? How does this differ from its present role? What effects have these changes had on water quality. Just a few thoughts that we can discuss in more detail.
