Today the group weighed the sediment samples we had collected during the previous weeks. The results were consistent with one of our projectÕs hypotheses: sediment concentration will increase moving from the headwaters of the stream downstream to the mouth of the stream. The data have been entered into a computer file and are ready to be made into transparencies for the project presentation.

Also today the group researched the book ÒFossils of Ohio,Ó in order to establish a geological context for Four Mile Creek.

Tomorrow or Thursday the group plans to interview members of the Oxford community who will speak to the contemporary significance of Four Mile Creek.

Thursday the group will speak with anthropology professor Adolph Greenberg on religious connections to rivers. The group had earlier contacted geography professor Bill Renwick, and today he e-mailed the group information about agricultural intensification in southwestern Ohio.

Library research on the significance of rivers for Native Americans will continue this week.
