Our project has gotten off to a fairly good start. We have begun researching economic conditions related to both tradtional and organic farming. Based on our research so far we have found traditional farming to be the most profitable for farmers although organic farming, while being more labor and cost intensive is better or the environment over the long term.

We have also collected our first water sample and have started testing it. We found small levels of phosphates in the water. Next week we plan to take more samples for testing. We will be testing all samples for phosphates, nitrates (hopefully the testing kits will have arrived), and sediment load.

We have also conducted one of the interviews, with Bill Renwick. He provided helpful information about geology issues related to farming such as sediment loads. We were able to videotape this interview to be included in our final video presentation. We have contacted Bob Harris, but as of yet have not been able to set up an interview time.
