Our meeting on Tuesday was extremely productive. We realized that the creek we are researching for our project is not Four Mile Creek, like we origionally assumed, but instead Collins Run. This change will not create too much of a problem in our overall project. We will still be comparing the creek behind the coal-burning plant to Harkers Run. When talking with Hayes about our research plan, we decided that because of the recent rainfall, testing water samples would be useless. Instead we are finding data on the invertebrates and fish that live in the two creeks, and using this data to draw our conclusions about the health of the streams.
Nathaniel is going to interview someone who works at the coal-burning plant on Thursday, so we made out a list of questions to ask that would be relevant to our project. Then we took a walk down to the plant itself and took pictures to use in our presentation. We ended up walking all the way to the creek and took some pictures there as well. Then we decided to meet again on Thursday, and look for data on the biodiversity of the two streams.
