Visions of Paradise

I must confess that I have a somewhat different response to your proposal than Hays. In simplest terms, I am still not entirely certain if what you you want to do is doable or exactly how the sciende of Four Mile Creek is going to fit into your project. As you are well aware, the concept of Paradise is an important one. Although we use the word loosely today to describe very beautiful places like Hawaii, it is really a biblical concept as can be seen in literature (Milton and Dante immediately come to mind) or the way Paradise is portrayed in art (such as the Hudson River School). So a discussion of the literature on the concept of Paradise can be an interesting one. But if I understand your project you want to see how closely the area in Hawaii you are going to study and the area around the Four Mile Creek come to meeting the definition of paradise as developed through your reading of the litetature. Maybe this can be done , but I am not sure, and I still do not have a good feel how your study of Four Mile Creek and the river(s) you will examine in Hawaii will fit into your project. Surely paradise will mean more than the chemistry of the rivers as you acknowledge in your proposal.

In short, like Hays, I am intrigued by your proposal, but I am not entirely clear on how doable it is and how the Four Mile Creek is going to fit into your proosal.
