Contexualized Narratives Changing Environmental Awareness

Summary Of Accomplishments Thus Far
To start our project off, our group decided to take a field trip to Four-Mile Creek. We woke up early (10:00a.m.) on Saturday of March 29th and headed out to the Four-Mile creek area. We walked from Bonham road to HarkerÕs Run and attempted to gain inspiration and ideas for writing our narratives. On this journey we took notes in our notebooks about the specific kinds of life forms we saw and specific ideas we had for our stories. Once reaching HarkerÕs Run, we sat down to eat and talk about what we had thought about and whether this was even a successful trip.

Another activity that our group is planning right now is to send a representative on the ÒShocking TripÓ that Hays is planning. Hays mentioned in class that each group using the fish-shocker should send a representative on a certain day. Brian has volunteered to go on the trip, which is scheduled for now on a Sunday. After studying the fish in Four-Mile creek, we plan on writing our finalized narratives.

Although they are only very-rough drafts, Jason and Randy have started typing their narratives. Not much has really been done however. They are really closer to outlines than actual stories.

The last thing the group has been working on is touching up the surveys so that they are testing the correct items and giving us ÒauthenticÓ data. However, the group seems to have trouble studying the more difficult qualitative issues of our study.
