The Flight Assignments and Technology Challenge

WEEK ONE (Feb 15-19)
Assignment: Read Dragonfly Flight issue and Teacher’s Companion.
Read Parts I-III as well as Flight Theme material in A Field Guide.

Special Technology Challenge
To help get your classroom comfortable with the computer and the Internet, try this introductory activity:

Generate with your students and any interested parents an Acceptable Computer Use Policy that includes guidelines for the proper use and maintenance of computer equipment, proper "netiquette," and guidelines for appropriate sites to visit.

Examples might include:
Log off when you are finished.

Think about the consequences of what you do before you do it.

Use only your account.

Only make copies of documents or software with permission.

Check your e-mail daily.

Use proper English and kind words.

Sign all of your messages.

Chain letters are prohibited.

If possible, invite students, parents, and administrators to participate in the creation of the policy. When completed, have each student and a parent sign the form.
