WEEK SIX (Mar 22-26) Finding The Way

Assignment: Read Dragonfly Finding the Way and Teacher’s Companion.
Read Finding the Way booklet, Making It Work (pp. 4-9) in A Field Guide.
Try Special Technology Challenge.

Special Technology Challenge for the Teacher

To get you comfortable using the main computer applications, try doing one or all of the following challenges. Note that computer programs often come with a book or a computer-based tutorial that should provide everything you need to know to use the program. Every program has its own learning curve--don’t be afraid to experiment!

Use a word processor to compose a one-page letter to students telling them about the upcoming Skeletons theme and the fun inquiries they will be doing in the coming weeks. Try using some of the special word-processing features, such as boldfacing, underlining, italics, centering, and font type.

Set up a database template that can be used to collect a class’s physical statistics, such as height, blood pressure, etc.

Set up a spreadsheet template for organizing a class party or for calculating your students’ grades.

Set up a storyboard to be used in a graphics program on science.

Where and What do I post to the World Wide Web?
